Sowena Group has been exclusively retained by an ambitious and highly profitable growing multi-site healthcare group, operating across North Manchester/Lancashire who are looking for a new Head of Finance. With a strong financial position and an ambitious growth strategy, including potential acquisitions, we are seeking an experienced Head of Finance with a strong operational mindset to join our senior leadership team.

This is a very hands-on, high-visibility role that will play a key part in both the financial and operational aspects of the business. Reporting directly to the Managing Director you will play a key role in shaping the financial direction of the company and ensuring sustainable growth.


Key Responsibilities

Financial Leadership & Strategy:

  • Provide strategic financial direction and oversight, working closely with the business owner to achieve the group’s financial and operational goals.
  • Lead the preparation of monthly financial reporting, ensuring accurate and timely management accounts that highlight financial performance and key metrics.
  • Develop robust forecasting and budgeting processes that align with business objectives, growth plans, and acquisitions.
  • Oversee cash flow management, including working capital, ensuring financial health and liquidity of the business.

Operations Focused:

  • Act as a key operational leader, working across the business to drive efficiencies, improve margins, and enhance overall performance.
  • Lead contract negotiations and pricing discussions, ensuring the business is maximizing commercial opportunities and margins.
  • Develop, implement, and track performance metrics to improve operational efficiency across multiple sites.
  • Collaborate closely with the operations teams to ensure seamless integration of financial strategy with day-to-day operations, ensuring both financial and operational goals are met.

Commercial Strategy & Business Growth:

  • Drive the commercial analysis of new business opportunities, including potential acquisitions, new contracts, and strategic partnerships.
  • Provide insights and analysis on market trends, competitor performance, and customer data to guide pricing, service delivery, and profitability.
  • Lead any financial due diligence and integration efforts for any future acquisitions, ensuring smooth transitions and financial synergies.

 Team Leadership & Development:

  • Lead, mentor, and develop a small finance team, fostering a collaborative and performance-driven culture.
  • Build strong relationships with key stakeholders across the business, acting as a trusted advisor on financial and operational matters.
  • Provide support to non-financial managers, ensuring they have the financial understanding to drive their areas of the business effectively.

Operational Efficiency:

  • Continuously identify areas for cost control and efficiency improvements across all business functions.
  • Implement processes to streamline financial operations, ensuring scalability as the business grows.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and reporting tools that provide actionable insights for operational improvements.
  • Experience with financial systems and ERP software, as well as Excel for financial modelling and analysis.
  • A hands-on, problem-solving approach with a strong ability to drive change and improve business processes.

Details

Package: between £70,000 to £80,000 + bonus

This role would suit a fully qualified accountant who has had experience working within a SME ideally that has experience within services, healthcare or a contract led industry.
