Job Description

Corporate Finance Director – North West

Sowena Group is proud to be exclusively retained on this exceptional opportunity to join a market-leading business advisory group at a pivotal stage in its growth journey.

As Corporate Finance Director, you will play a strategic leadership role - shaping the Group’s financial direction, driving commercial success, and leading a high-performing team through the next phase of expansion. Reporting to the Managing Director and Chairman, the Corporate Finance Director will lead both the Corporate Finance and Commercial teams, driving growth across M&A, acquisitions, exit planning, and deal origination. This position offers a clear route to Managing Director for an ambitious and commercially minded finance leader, with the mandate to prepare the business for a future private equity exit or strategic sale to a Business Services Group.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, mentor, and expand the Corporate Finance and Commercial teams - focusing on coaching, performance, recruitment, and deal-making excellence.
  • Develop and implement business development strategies to originate new mandates and strengthen deal flow across target sectors.
  • Oversee the full transaction lifecycle - including valuations, deal structuring, negotiations, due diligence, and completion.
  • Leverage proprietary sector intelligence and M&A data to generate insights, thought leadership, and client advisory value.
  • Deliver against key financial and operational targets - including revenue growth, EBITDA, and client satisfaction.
  • Drive strategic readiness for scaling and contribute to exit preparation and investment planning.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, private equity partners, and wider industry stakeholders.

Qualifications/Skills

  • Proven experience in senior corporate finance or M&A leadership roles.
  • Track record of executing mid-market transactions and leading high-performing teams.
  • Established network across advisory, private equity, and corporate markets.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to deliver commercial growth and operational excellence.
  • Exceptional communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Ambition to progress into a Managing Director role

  • A clear pathway to Managing Director for the right individual, with the opportunity to lead the business through a private equity exit or trade sale.
  • The chance to work alongside a seasoned Chairman, an experienced MD, and a talented corporate finance team within a high-growth, ambitious firm.

If you are a commercially driven finance leader with a passion for growth, leadership, and strategic execution, we’d love to hear from you.
