As Finance Director, you will be responsible for the day-to-day running of the Finance department in a broad, hands-on role. This is a unique opportunity for an ambitious, commercially minded finance professional to step into their first Finance Director role, balancing financial control with strategic influence. The position will also involve establishing controls, process improvements, and contributing to wider business initiatives.


Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the finance function, overseeing all financial processes and controls.
  • Prepare and review monthly management accounts, providing clear analysis and commentary to the leadership team.
  • Monitor and manage cash flow forecasting, ensuring business resilience.
  • Produce annual budgets and forecasts, including quarterly reforecasts.
  • Report key financial and commercial performance metrics to management, including regional performance, stock, shipping costs and marketing effectiveness.
  • Drive profit-improvement initiatives and identify opportunities for efficiency.
  • Partner with Marketing, Procurement, and Operations to align trading and financial performance.
  • Support inventory management, ensuring accurate valuation and efficient stock management across multiple international locations.
  • Enhance financial processes, systems, and controls to support growth.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory, tax, and reporting requirements.
  • Oversee payroll, pensions, and employee benefits in line with HR policies.
  • Oversee risk management, including insurance, data protection, and internal controls.
  • Manage relationships with external advisors on tax, legal, and HR matters to safeguard the business and support strategic objectives.
  • Work closely with the CEO on strategic projects, including new revenue streams and international market entry.



Qualifications/Skills

  • Ambitious, proactive, and comfortable in a hands-on finance role within a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
  • Demonstrates leadership potential, with the drive to build and scale a finance team as the business grows.
  • Professionally qualified accountant (ACA/ACCA/CIMA) with a solid technical background.
  • Experience in a similar role, ideally with exposure to e-commerce, retail, or international operations.
  • Strong commercial acumen and the ability to turn financial data into clear, actionable insights.
  • Proven track record of improving processes, implementing change, and driving systems enhancements.
  • Highly proficient in Excel with experience of ERP systems (NetSuite would be an advantage).
