Job Description

A highly successful and rapidly expanding property business in Liverpool, with a strong pipeline of prestigious projects. Seeking an experienced Financial Controller to take the lead on all financial operations. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and play a pivotal role in driving the company’s continued growth and success. This is a standalone role initially, with clear scope for development as the organisation continues to scale, under excellent leadership.


Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of financial control, including financial reporting, month-end close, balance sheet management, and internal controls.
  • Deliver accurate and timely monthly management accounts across multiple entities within the group.
  • Ensure compliance with statutory requirements, including preparation of annual accounts and liaison with external auditors.
  • Maintain and improve financial processes and systems to support business growth and complexity.
  • Manage cash flow forecasting, working closely with development, construction, and treasury teams to ensure robust liquidity planning.
  • Oversee intercompany transactions, group consolidations, and tax compliance (VAT, CIS, Corporation Tax).
  • Support budgeting and forecasting processes in collaboration with the FP&A function.
  • Provide financial insight and analysis to support commercial decision-making and project delivery.
  • Build and lead a small finance team, fostering a culture of accountability, collaboration, and continuous improvement.



Qualifications/Skills

  • Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or CIMA) with 5+ years post-qualified experience.
  • Proven experience in a Financial Controller or senior finance role within a fast-paced, multi-entity environment, ideally in property, construction, or a related sector.
  • Strong technical accounting knowledge, including statutory reporting, month-end close, and compliance within a single-entity or divisional structure.
  • Hands-on and detail-oriented, with the ability to manage day-to-day operations while contributing to strategic projects.
  • Advanced Excel skills and ability to navigate computers systems and accounting software (MRI Property Management System experience desirable).
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, able to influence and collaborate across departments.
  • Experience managing and developing high-performing finance teams.
