Role Overview
Sowena Group have been exclusively retained by a Private Equity backed, international manufacturing group operating across multiple legal entities and production sites who are seeking a hands-on Group Financial Controller to stabilise and rebuild its finance function.
This role will focus on restoring financial integrity, improving cashflow visibility, strengthening group-level controls, and supporting the executive team and external stakeholders.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Control & Reporting
- Lead group-level financial reporting and monthly consolidations
- Resolve historic accounting issues and improve balance sheet integrity
- Standardise accounting policies across sites (inventory, costing, provisions, revenue)
- Deliver accurate group management accounts in a complex environment
Manufacturing Finance Oversight
- Oversee site finance teams to ensure consistent costing and margin reporting
- Review gross margin performance and identify inefficiencies
- Ensure appropriate inventory valuation and provisioning
- Provide financial insight to operational leadership
Audit & Stakeholder Management
- Act as key contact for external auditors
- Coordinate statutory accounts across group entities
- Liaise with lenders, banks, and advisors as required
Cashflow & Working Capital
- Own group cashflow forecasting and liquidity planning
- Consolidate site forecasts into a reliable group position
- Drive working capital improvements and cash preservation initiatives
Controls & Governance
- Strengthen financial controls and month-end discipline
- Support restructuring, refinancing, and covenant monitoring
- Ensure compliance with IFRS / UK GAAP
Essential Experience
- Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, CIMA or equivalent)
- Strong group-level financial control experience within a manufacturing environment
