Job Description:

Sowena Group have partnered with a high-growth financial services group in their search for an analytically focused Management Accountant based in Altrincham.

This role offers massive scope for progression, exposure to a very high-growth entity within the group and the opportunity to really take ownership of the finance function, and report into a brilliant Finance Director who takes pride in mentorship and development of his team.

This will be a hands on, analytical role which will require you to take ownership of the management accounts and the purchase & sub-contractor ledgers, whilst working cross- functionally in order to prepare the balance sheets and overhead analysis.


Responsibilities:

  • Preparation of the monthly management accounts and reporting of the company’s monthly performance against budget
  • Production of monthly margin analysis, providing insightful commentary and analysis at both an individual project and company level
  • Preparation of monthly balance sheet reconciliations and overhead analysis
  • Maintenance of the company’s purchasing and stock management systems, performing frequent reconciliations and conducting periodic stock counts to identify and resolve any stock discrepancies
  • Management of work in progress including weekly reporting pack preparation
  • Production of the weekly cash forecast, incorporating weekly bank reconciliations and processing of payment runs
  • Management of both the purchase and sub-contractor ledgers, including the preparation of weekly payment runs
  • Processing of sub-contractor and supplier invoices, ensuring compliance with the company’s approval procedures at all times
  • Preparation of monthly supplier statement reconciliations
  • Manage supplier credit limits and liaise with suppliers to swiftly resolve any account disputes
  • Maintaining a strong control environment, in particular around costs, ensuring they are accurately recorded at an individual project level
  • Preparation of quarterly VAT returns and ensuring compliance with other HMRC taxes
  • Oversee the sales ledger and credit control function
  • Providing ad hoc support to the Group Finance function during both the month-end process and annual audit


Qualifications/Skills:

  • ACA / ACCA / CIMA qualified or actively studying towards qualification
  • Experience of preparing monthly management accounts, including VAT and transactional processing, ideally working within this or a similar industry
  • Ability to analyse complex financial information and communicate results and options for decision making clearly and succinctly
  • Previous exposure to integrated purchasing and stock modules§ Excellent technical skills and a proven ability to apply them effectively
  • Process driven with proven experience of implementing change and maintaining a strong control environment
  • Advanced user of Microsoft Excel and accounting systems (SAGE Intacct)
