 PE-Backed | High-Growth Services Group

The Opportunity

Sowena have been retained by a large, PE-backed services group based in Lancashire to appoint a Senior Group Accountant as they continue to strengthen their group finance function during an exciting phase of growth.

This is a fantastic opportunity for a first or second time mover from practice (ACA) looking to step into a broad, commercially exposed industry role within a business experiencing strong expansion and ongoing acquisitions.

Working closely with an exceptional Group Financial Controller, you’ll gain exposure across the wider finance function — from group reporting and consolidations to cash management, audit, and acquisition integration — making this a well-rounded role that offers both technical development and clear long-term progression.

For ambitious individuals looking to build a career in industry within a fast-paced, PE-backed environment, this role provides the chance to develop quickly, influence processes, and grow alongside the business.

The Role

Reporting directly to the Group Financial Controller, the Senior Group Accountant will play a key role in delivering accurate group reporting, maintaining strong financial controls, and supporting the continued development of finance processes across the organisation.

You will take ownership of the monthly management accounts process across multiple group entities, while also contributing to cashflow management, audit cycles, and the integration of newly acquired businesses.

Alongside technical accounting responsibilities, the role will involve mentoring junior team members and helping drive improvements to systems, controls, and reporting processes as the group continues to scale.

Key Responsibilities

Group Reporting & Management Accounts

  • Preparation and consolidation of monthly management accounts across several group entities
  • Deliver variance analysis against budget and prior year, highlighting key drivers of performance
  • Monitor financial performance and provide clear insight to the senior finance team
  • Support the preparation of budgets and forecasts, particularly around overhead spend

Cashflow & Treasury

  • Ownership of bank reconciliations across multiple group companies
  • Preparation and maintenance of cashflow forecasts
  • Support broader treasury management and monitoring of group cash positions

Controls, Compliance & Audit

  • Act as a key contact for external audit queries, managing transactional audit requests
  • Assist with year-end processes and statutory reporting requirements
  • Prepare and oversee VAT returns across several group entities
  • Support wider regulatory reporting and compliance requirements

Group & Technical Accounting

  • Monitor and reconcile intercompany balances across the group structure
  • Support the Group Financial Controller during monthly and year-end close processes
  • Assist with technical accounting matters as required

Acquisitions & Process Improvement

  • Support the integration of newly acquired businesses into group finance processes
  • Identify opportunities to improve financial controls, reporting, and day-to-day processes
  • Contribute to building scalable finance processes as the group continues to grow

Team Development

  • Provide mentoring and support to junior management accountants
  • Help develop best practices within the wider finance team

About You

  • ACA qualified (ACA first or second move from practice highly attractive)
  • Strong grounding in financial reporting and core accounting principles
  • High attention to detail with a strong focus on accuracy and controls
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving capability
  • Collaborative mindset with the confidence to work across teams
  • Ambitious, proactive, and motivated to develop your career in industry
  • Strong Excel skills (ERP system exposure beneficial)

Experience within a multi-entity or group structure would be advantageous but is not essential.

If you’re an ACA looking for a role that offers genuine breadth, mentorship, and long-term career progression, this is an excellent opportunity to build your industry experience within a high-growth group environment.
