Job Description

As Senior Management Accountant, you’ll take ownership of the monthly management accounts process, delivering high-quality financial reporting and analysis to support commercial and strategic decision-making. This role is integral in ensuring accurate and timely reporting across the group, while driving process improvements and providing valuable insights to the leadership team.
We are seeking a qualified and ambitious Senior Management Accountant to join our Finance team in Liverpool.
Responsibilities
- Take responsibility for the preparation of monthly management accounts, including journals, accruals, and prepayments.
- Deliver insightful variance analysis and commentary for senior stakeholders.
- Support budgeting and forecasting processes, ensuring alignment with business objectives.
- Perform balance sheet reconciliations and maintain strong financial controls.
- Liaise with internal teams to ensure accurate income and expenditure allocation.
- Prepare and present regular financial reports to senior management.
- Assist in the production of statutory accounts and work closely with external auditors.
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives, helping to streamline reporting and enhance efficiency.
- Provide support and guidance to junior team members where required.
Qualifications/Skills
- Qualified Accountant – CIMA, ACCA, or ACA.
- Strong background in management accounting and financial reporting.
- Experience preparing monthly management accounts and supporting budgeting/forecasting cycles.
- Proficient in journal postings, accruals, and reconciliations.
- Advanced Excel skills (pivot tables, lookups, etc.).
- Strong systems knowledge – experience with accounting software preferred.
- Exposure to working in a fast-paced, growth-focused environment.
- Detail-oriented with a commitment to accuracy and deadlines.
- Strong communication skills – able to translate financial information for non-finance colleagues.
- Organised and able to prioritise effectively in a busy environment.
- Proactive and commercially minded, with a focus on continuous improvement.
